Sunday, May 20: Home

Ben Gurion Airport
Ben Gurion Airport

One last wake-up call, one last breakfast together, one last time packing up the suitcases. Julie no longer with us: she off to a well-deserved break before her next tour gig. Back to Ben Gurion Airport, through security much more extensive and efficient than in Canada, and onto the plane.

Again with crazy mixed-up meals. This time zone thing is killer. At least there was lots of food. Watched more movies: Freedom Writers, Night at the Museum, The Talented Mr. Ripley. I think I saw more movies on this trip than in the entire year previous.

All during the trip, my friend Linda had been crocheting, or maybe knitting, these most excellent water bottle holders for various people on the trip. On the plane, she made me one too and I was very touched. A perfect souvenir: at the same time meaningful and practical.

Arrived in Toronto 6:15 p.m. Toronto time, which in Israel time was 3:15 a.m. the next day, because remember, they're more advanced there. One last debrief, and I gave out little thank-you cards I'd written for everyone on the plane. Then collect luggage, and they off to Robert Q Airbus, I to TTC. Arrived back in my apartment 8pm, just the way I left it. Unpack, and to bed.
